Lodge Farm Curriculum

Curriculum Intent

At Lodge Farm, we believe that all children should be provided with a wide range of opportunities to develop and grow as an individual, who shapes their own future. We aim to equip our children with the skills, knowledge and self-belief to flourish and seize the opportunities the world offers.

At Lodge Farm Primary School we have designed our curriculum to ensure that every child will find something to excel at.

We celebrate our diversity and truly believe that it is our differences that make us a strong, caring community. The curriculum that we offer is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values which prepare our children for a life beyond primary school. We provide enrichment opportunities to engage learning and develop passions. We support our families by tailoring to individual needs.

Curriculum Drivers

Curriculum Drivers:

We have four curriculum drivers. These are essentially the golden threads that weave through all subjects and are at the heart of what we teach at Lodge Farm.  Staff carefully considered what barriers our children face to learning and as a result decided on the following drivers to focus on to help children overcome the barriers. We have tailored our curriculum to meet the needs of our children and to ensure that they have high aspirations; healthy lifestyles (physically and mentally); can communicate effectively and have a good knowledge of the World.

Our curriculum is monitored closely by subject leaders alongside SLT to ensure it meets the National Curriculum objectives and that work evidences the vocabulary, knowledge and skills needed for our pupils to excel in all areas of school life. Subject leaders are proactive in delivering feedback and support to develop their subjects further. Continual CPD opportunities are provided on a whole school and individual basis to ensure that teaching and learning standards and progress remain high.

We aim to make learning exciting, engaging and enriching for all children, ensuring that every child is challenged to be the best that they can be. We deliver teaching and learning through exciting topics and themes, which are delivered each term or half term, as well as offering a wide range of after school clubs in order to support and extend learning.

Parents

Parents are invited to discuss their child’s progress face to face formally, three times a year in the autumn, spring and summer terms. In addition to this, we invite parents to speak with Teachers as often as they wish in between formal parents’ evenings.  In the summer term parents receive a detailed written report about their child’s progress and attainment.

Each half term, paper copies of curriculum Knowledge Organisers are sent home with children and are shared on the website on curriculum pages, to ensure that parents are fully aware of the curriculum coverage at our school. We encourage parents to pin up the Knowledge Organisers at home to facilitate conversations with their children about what they are learning in school.

Caring and Working Together

Our school motto is Caring and Working Together. Demonstrating this, Lodge Farm is a family in every sense of the word – the children, staff, families and the local community work together towards our one shared goal. Everyone is treated with respect as we support and challenge our children to reach their full potential. We are proud to be part of the local community, supporting initiatives and activities which make the lives of others better. Our door is always open and we welcome our families, external agencies, other professionals and the local community.

Children make good progress whilst at Lodge Farm Primary School. We are proud of our children in every way; who they are, how they wish to develop and everything that they achieve, sometimes in the face of adversity.
